So I have about 45 minutes until I'm planning on going to bed and I just wanted to sit and chat about something that's important to me.
I strongly believe in the Little Things. You know, the things that brighten your day instantly that don't take much. 'Little' little things like a "Good Morning" or "your hair looks nice", some one holding open the door or a passing smile. and 'Big' little things: a small bunch of flowers or a chocolate, a text or a card.
I believe if we all gave a little thing to everyone we met, our days would be so much better.
Yesterday I recieved a card from my best friend's mum who I've know since forever, wishing me all the best in my exams and telling me they will be thinking and praying for me and that, a little sign of love, really made my day. I had had a pretty bad nights sleep and a 5 hour art exam to follow and my day was not looking up. Then, on the bus my friend gave me this card and honestly, I felt like crying. It was the sweetest thing ever and it was just what I needed.
It doesn't even have to be anything much, sometimes I find myself tapping someone on the shoulder repeatedly just to tell them they look great today. You might think urgh that's weird, why would you do that and I do it because I know it would make me feel good so I assume it makes other people feel good to. It doesn't even have to be some one you know!! "Ahh scary talking to new people" I feel ya its a stuggle in this day and age but people aren't as scary as you think they are and you never know, you saying you love their shoes may just make them smile.
And its not just the giving, its the realisation that you have made some one's day a little brighter that make you feel good on the inside. If your day is going not to good, force yourself to smile at someone and you might just get a smile back.
So the message of today is do a little thing can make someone else, and your own self, feel a million times better.
Its been a rambly one today but I hope you get where I'm coming from.
lots and lots of hugs,
abbey xx
