I've kind of got to a point now where I need a plot twist to sort everything out, maybe if time just stopped for a week, I could just try to de-clutter and re-organise my life. If you know me, I've never really been one for plans or knowing what I want to do with life, I'm the least organized person ever (although I am getting better!) and I really need to sort myself out. Being a younger sister, I guess I never really had to worry about many things like getting somewhere on time or making sure I've go everything as my trusty, reliable Big Sister would always remind me. Now she's at Uni and I'm growing up, I've kind of go to do all that myself and I'm still not quite used to it. I'm notorious among my friends for forgetting my Art folder, the most important thing to any art student and I was forever forgetting my diary, PE kit or some kind of homework or another. Basically, I need to become more organised. I've tried a few things, writing lists etc and I love writing them but I'm not very good when it comes to motivating myself to doing something. Part of it used to be that I would postpone things and leave them until about 11 o'clock at night when I was two tired to function anyway. I've recently discovered that I actually enjoy getting up early. Urm re-phrase that: I don't like the actual getting up part but when I am up, I love making the most of the morning. I find that I work best during daylight hours which is great during the summer when the sun sets at like 9 in the evening but in winter that's not so great (I think I'll leave that problem and tackle it when the days start getting shorter). This summer, I plan to sort of re-adjust my life a bit. A fresh start I suppose, ready for next year when if I'm not organised, work will just burden me and I won't be able to manage. The plan is...
So yeah. That's what I need to do, I've got a while, a long summer to sort everything out and of course, I'll keep you updated.
lots of hugs, abbey x Good Day to you all! Today I figured seeing as its been over 3 months since my first blog post: "Spring Cleaning" it though it appropriate to re-cap my resolutions which I introduced in that post. They were: watch less youtube, eat healthier, be more creative, read my bible more and to keep a sketchbook/journal. Of all of these, I think I've done pretty well with most of them. I actually have watched way less youtube than I used too, due to a few things. Firstly, with writing a blog, I've explored other blogs and this has taken the time I would have usually spent watching video after video on the black whole that is youtube. Secondly, for while I deleted youtube off of my phone and so with vlogs etc I got behind on what was happening and so I didn't find them interesting anymore. All in all, I have success in this one even if I do splurge occasionally and then regret it when I get a headache. 'Eating healthier' I have actually done (such good english there). I don't really know why but I've really been put off chocolate and other such sweet things recently. I'd rather have a glass of water than juice, I'd rather eat grapes than skittles. Strange I know and I haven't quite figured out what it is yet. Also, I used to eat out of boredom, probably the worst habit anyone can have, and so I have found other ways of entertaining myself when I lapse into a state of utter procrastination. 'Be more creative' is a bit of a vague one to judge however, going by the amount of creativeness I have splurged onto my wall recently, I think that ones ticked off. 'Reading my bible more often' This one is kind of tricky if I'm honest. I am yet to get round to buying an NKJV so there's only so much old english that you can read before being like what I don't understand this. I am slowly progressing on this one but it's not as easy as sitting and reading, I want to get into the habit of having a time set aside every day to relax and take notes on whatever it is that I'm reading. And lastly, keep a sketchbook/journal. This one I think has been my most successful. I've written/drawn in it most days even if it is just my 'to-do' list for that day. Other days, if I may say so, the pages look really cool filled with writing and colour. Some of my favourite pages I'll put at the bottom of this blog post. that's all for today, there's also a blog post scheduled for tomorrow, in case you couldn't tell, my way of taking breaks from revision is to write blog posts :S at least its doing something productive!
lots of hugs, abbey xx A little look at some things I bought today and yesterday, I've done quite a bit of shopping recently, with it coming up to summer and next year being a year of non-uniform. Maybe somewhen in the summer I'll do a haul of the things I've bought for next year :)
That's alll for today, two posts in one day!? Good or bad?
lots of hugs, abbey x Weeeelllll hey there! Its been a while since I sat and chatted about things most likely irrelevent to most people. Btw, if you do like these kind of blog posts I'll do them more often, thought they have been known to get very deep or very rambly. I'm sat in an arm chair by a window as the clouds are beginning to cover the sun, I'm guessing the sunset won't be as spectacular as some of the ones we've had recently. Also, in urgent need of Vanessa Hudgens hair, like now if possible. Having maaajjjooorrrr hair envy. Do you ever get it when you think of something and then you keep seeing it everywhere? Yeah, thats happenin' because I just see people with nice short curly/wavy hair and I'm like me waaaaannt s'il vous plait!!! I think imma cut it like after prom maybzz.... Il do a blog post on it if I do (and if I like it!!) (a few days later, oops) More News!! My parents gave said I can maybe re-paint my room over the summer so I need to decide on coloura etc, I've made a board on pinterest for wall of rooms I like so if you fancy checking it out, click the little 'p' on the side bar and that'll take you to my pinterest :) that's all for now, my revision awaits lots of hugs,
abbey x I love this quote and its something interesting to think about. Firstly, it depends on what you class as 'rich'. Many people are what the world today considers "rich", the likes of The Kardashians, Beyonce and Johnny Depp are rich, money wise but is that all there is to be rich?? I'm not rich like them, that's kind of obvious considering I'm a student living with my parents but maybe in others ways?? What I'm trying to get at is that you might give everything you own away and become poor based on monetary values but then there's your friends and family, they are the treasures of your life. Maybe you don't have any family or friends, then your life, that is a treasure, a gift from God. Which leads me onto my next point and the thing I really wanted to talk about today which is the Gift of Giving. This is something I've noticed recently, how some certain people can just give without a thought, like its in their nature. Those are people I really admire and aspire to be like. It can be giving a card or a present or simply time to listen and be there for someone. These people are patient, not rushing around, always hurrying but they take life as it comes, a gift in itself and share that gift of life with everyone they meet. So, this is a short one today but one that's just as important to me as some of the longer posts I've done, if not more so. I want to make it my mission to give more, maybe you'd like to join me? lots of hugs, abbey xxx
Hey!! This is me :) Today I am wearing... White/Yellow Lace Top ~ River Island, £15 (sale, was £30!!) Plain White Vest Crop-Top ~ New Look, £3.99 (ish) Lace Shorts ~ Republic 'ONLY', £5 (sale, was about £20) Brown Leather Belt ~ Oasis, £3 (sale, was £15 ish) It seems the theme here is sale items so lets discuss that. Being a broke student without a job, living on the allowance of my parents, I am the type to only ever buy something if its on sale/ if I really need (/want) something. This top is still pretty expensive, I probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't have brithday money to spend but I love it sooooo much!! Its perfect for spring/summer, dress up with a maxi skirt or casual with shorts like I have here (or how I am right now with trackies on :P ) I bought it in a 6 as it was the last size left though normally I'm an 8 on top and 10 on bottoms. The shorts I actually bought quite a few years ago in republic just before it closed down in the "last few days" sale which is why there are ridiculously cheap. I think the lace on the left hand side just adds a little bit of interestingness to it. They are a little on the large side so I have either having to hold them up myself or wear a belt. In this case, the belt is from Oasis and wooohh the bargin!!! When I picked it up it said something like £15 reduced to £10 and for a leather belt these days that is not at all bad but when I got to the check out and she said it was £3 I was like 'Are you sure??' So that made my day!! Other things featured in these photos are a watch from my sister bought for me for my birthday (etsy sop will be linked at the end), some photos of my sister and I, flowers and a dying plant that I am strategically hiding with my hand. Plus a bunch of random jewellery (des bijoux - see learnt some french after 5 years of studying it) I was going to do a separate catching up post but seeing as I'm here I may aswell do that now. Incase you don't follow me on instagram (@lifeandotherwonders) then you won't know that I am currently taking my GCSE exams, of which I have about 24, which is why I have been somewhat absent from the blog recently. I have some plans, some of which I've left too late to do now (life a best dressed for the Met Gala, did you see some of the dresses!!!!) but I will try and upload about once a week if I can. After exams of course, you can expect a lot of blogging as I won't really have much else to do!!! I have super-duper long holiday, broken up with various holidays/camps etc. For the weeks I'm away, I might actually plan ahead and schedule posts to go up!! Wooohhh that might be a bit much though so we'll see :) Its like 10:15 pm and I'm leaving for school at 7:15 tomorrow morning (eheh.... so early) so I should probably get some much needed rest lot of hugs, abbey xxx etsy watch: https://www.etsy.com/shop/FreeForme?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=aztec%20watch&ref=sr_gallery_1
So I have about 45 minutes until I'm planning on going to bed and I just wanted to sit and chat about something that's important to me.
I strongly believe in the Little Things. You know, the things that brighten your day instantly that don't take much. 'Little' little things like a "Good Morning" or "your hair looks nice", some one holding open the door or a passing smile. and 'Big' little things: a small bunch of flowers or a chocolate, a text or a card. I believe if we all gave a little thing to everyone we met, our days would be so much better. Yesterday I recieved a card from my best friend's mum who I've know since forever, wishing me all the best in my exams and telling me they will be thinking and praying for me and that, a little sign of love, really made my day. I had had a pretty bad nights sleep and a 5 hour art exam to follow and my day was not looking up. Then, on the bus my friend gave me this card and honestly, I felt like crying. It was the sweetest thing ever and it was just what I needed. It doesn't even have to be anything much, sometimes I find myself tapping someone on the shoulder repeatedly just to tell them they look great today. You might think urgh that's weird, why would you do that and I do it because I know it would make me feel good so I assume it makes other people feel good to. It doesn't even have to be some one you know!! "Ahh scary talking to new people" I feel ya its a stuggle in this day and age but people aren't as scary as you think they are and you never know, you saying you love their shoes may just make them smile. And its not just the giving, its the realisation that you have made some one's day a little brighter that make you feel good on the inside. If your day is going not to good, force yourself to smile at someone and you might just get a smile back. So the message of today is do a little thing can make someone else, and your own self, feel a million times better. Its been a rambly one today but I hope you get where I'm coming from. lots and lots of hugs, abbey xx
lots of hugs,
abbey xx (this was supposed to go up yesterday so I suppose this is now a 'Statement Monday') Starting a little new series, more fashion orientated, well, completely fashion based actually that will go up most Sundays (hopefully!). I'll probably write them on the Saturday and schedule for Sunday morning or something :D They will be based around statement items, mostly, that I've seen bloggles/vloggers wearing in the past week/recently. So... today's 'Statement' is the Lace-Up Flat Shoe. I think I first saw Mary Elizabeth (https://www.youtube.com/user/FabulousonaBudget) wearing these about a month-ish ago and OMGoodness, they are beaa-ooo-tiful. Her are navy blue pumps from Aldo, so pretty pricey at £70 but if you have the money then seriously invest in them!! On her favourites video, she said the only down side was that the laces slip down occasionally but tbh, I think most people can cope with that. Making them all the more amazing, the heel has a 'hologram, rose-gold part' on them which balances the dark blue of the rest of the shoe and matches the gold details on the ends of the laces. The next person I saw wearing this style of shoe was blogger, Carrie Harwood, from wishwishwish.net She has two pairs of gorgeous lace-ups, Her brown sandals are from Mango and the black pumps are from Next (I'll try to link all shoes at the bottom) The sandals are less like the shoes Mary Elizabeth has and are more gladiator style but are still just as lovely (and at a way more affordable price of £19.99! may have to get myself a pair...). The black pair are perfect for wearing with cropped/ rolled-up jeans, like she has here, with a black dress on a night out or a long floaty skirt to give them a boho look.
Soo that's all for today, sorry this has been delayed, had issues and courseowrk to complete (allll done now though!!!) I'll put all the link that I can find underneath here lots of hugs, abbey xx Mary's Flats: the Aldo UK page is down but I'll check later and update
