{ a little side note about this picture: This is something I believe everyone needs to do before they fall in love. How can you love someone if you don't love yourself? Appriciate what you have, don't linger on what you don't have and move on when you lose something you used to have. That's all I want to say on that xx }
Good Afternoon lovelies!! I was going to do a fashion favourites today but I'm not feeling too great so here's a replacement. I just kind of wanted to sit and chat about a few things and share with you my favourite book.
I was just watching Carrie's (itswaypastmybedtime) 5 favourtie books video and it twigged that I hadn't shared with you my favourite book! So here's a chatty little book review for you...then go read it, it's amazing!
The book is called 'North Child' in UK and Australia ('East' everywhere else I think) and it's by Edith Pattou. It is an adaptation of the Norwegian folk tale 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon'. I won't give too many spoilers but I'll give a short summary. The story is narrated by Rose (the main character), her brother Teddy, her father, the Troll Queen and the White Bear. Rose was brought up, the youngest of 7, by her father and incredibly superstitious mother in the Northern Hemisphere, near the north pole. When she was young, she was off wondering and came across a White Bear who she then continue to see every so often as she grew up. Things take a turn for the worse in her family and they become very poor and her sister falls ill. The White Bear then approaches the family and says the only way her sister will survive is if Rose goes with him. Not knowing what will become of Rose, her father reluctantly allows her to go with him. Rose then lives in a castle with only the white bear and two servants for company. One day, her curiousity gets the better of her and she sets off a curse. Dun dun duuuuuuh.... I won't tell you what happens next except that it reminds me of Beauty and the Beast (coincidentally is also my favourite Disney film) Bear (/bare im never sure which one it is) in mind I am the worrrsstt when it comes to describing books as any of my friemds will tell you, I usually end up discouraging people! But I assure you, this book is aaamazzzing, just read it and you'll understand my obsession. I think the fact I've read it over 10 times should be a clue as to how good it is!! Anyway, enough ranting...
I might cut this blog post short here as I feel like poo and need to sleep- Fun Fact: I actually just woke up after a 5 hour nap this afternoon and I'm still tired, fun times.
On a more cheerful note, my sister is coming home on thursday!! So I might rope her into being my model for another food/baking blog post, any suggestions??
okay beautiful people, see you another time maybe
lots of hugs,
abbey xx
